Spring/Summer’16 dress forecast: sunny, with a high chance of floral, fringe and denim mixed with killer sleeves, bare shoulders and skirts reaching all new lengths – literally!
Spring is such a beautiful season full of possibility, fresh starts and new beginnings in all aspects of life – including your wardrobe! Luckily for us here in Calgary the doom and gloom of winter has resided early this year, urging us to pack away last season’s attire and bring our spring + summer wardrobe out of storage! For me, this includes my collection of high wasted daisy dukes, crop tops and most importantly the vast array of spring dresses that I have accumulated over the years.
I absolutely love dresses, as they are extremely versatile and make for a notable staple in any wardrobe. They come in so many different functionalities, lengths, novelty prints, textures and trends, and are coherent to any personal style. They are also great for any occasion, whether you are searching for a look for casual Friday or something to wear to your overabundance of spring weddings – your options are endless!
My style varies when it comes to dresses, but one thing is for certain, comfort is paramount when choosing a dress to purchase. For a casual daytime look, I will generally pair a t-shirt dress with a baggy cardigan and a pair of white sneakers – chic and effortless. For the evening, I usually choose something with a bit more of a defined waistline, shorter sleeves and a higher neckline, paired with chunky heels and a statement necklace – a polished put-together look with a professional sentiment, perfect for a networking event, fundraiser or even cocktail hour with my girlfriends. I also love to play around with different patterns and skirt lengths, while sometimes even adding a crop top over a dress, creating a new recycled outfit from my wardrobe that is simple and cost effective!
So I say it’s officially time to add a little sunshine to your wardrobe and brighten it up with this year’s array of fabulous, figure flattering spring dresses. Here are 40 spring dresses for you to choose from that will make you look like you just walked off the spring/summer’16 runways!
